More About Revell Model Kits

by admin

Revell might be the most popular supplier of model kits in the entire world. They are all about fun for children, but old coots like me find a lot of good stuff from Revell too.

Even many who buy their model building kits elsewhere often find that Revell has the very best supplies and paint available.

Here are some of the different categories of models they carry:

Aircraft

While some other model kit suppliers focus on war, you can find model kits of all kinds of aircraft from Revell. If it’s a cool airplane, Revell has a model kit for it. Do you want a model of a B-26 Marauder or a cool CH-54A Skycrane? They have them. Do you need a boring model of an Airbus A380 passenger plane for a school project? You can get those too.

Cars

The same goes here. They aren’t limited to just American cars or just old cars either. If a cool car was ever sold anywhere in the world, you can probably find a model kit for it from Revell. They have everything from a ’55 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop to an ’82 Corvette.

In my opinion, no car collection of models is complete without a Ford T Big Tub. Did you know that 100 times as many T-Buckets have been manufactured after Mr. Ford closed down production as he ever manufactured himself? This is the most popular car design of all time and hundreds are still being made out of fiberglass for today’s hot rod enthusiasts. You absolutely have to have one of these in your model collection.

Engines

When I grew up, we learned about engines by working on the family car. That is no longer a reality, but you can still build models of engines. This is a great way for the next generation to learn about how engines work.

Ships

Once again, Revell isn’t limited in selection to just war ships. Want to build a model of the Titanic or any other famous ship from the past? Model kits are available.

Military

Of course Revell has a full selection of military model kits for the planes, ships, tanks, guns and everything else used historically in times of war.

Figures

If you are into reconstructing historical scenes, then you need to be able to put people into the set.

Pinewood Derby

I remember whittling my first pinewood derby car from a block of wood when I was a cub scout. I nearly cut my thumb off and had three stitches. Those were the days.

But today, kids rarely actually whittle. Some do. I made sure my grandson at least knew how to whittle (and without the need for stitches too). But today pinewood derby cars are assembled just like our models by most cub scouts and boy scouts. Revell has the most complete line of pinewood derby kits out there.

I varnished my own pinewood derby car when I was a kid and oiled the wheels with A1 oil. Today, the scouts put decals on their pinewood derby cars and use graphite on the wheels. Times change, but Revell has all of those fancy decals, weights, wheels and full kits to make your pinewood derby car a winner.
