Airfix Model Kits

by admin

Airfix has been making model kits for many, many years. They specialize in war related model kits with an emphasis on the two world wars and the machinery used to win those wars.

They have scale model kits for just about every aircraft, ship, car, motorbike and tank used in those wars. They also have a huge selection of dioramas and figures. Using scale models, you can recreate any major historical scene in either World War I or World War II.

Their prices are very competitive and will never get in the way of you fully enjoying your hobby. They also have one of the best selections of paints and accessories of any plastic model provider in the world.

But this hobby isn’t just about buying plastic model kits and putting them together. It is about a lot of things including attention to detail, competition, showing off our work, remembering the sacrifices of our soldiers and remembering the road we took to present day technology.

As we build war models, we can relive what it must have been like fighting Japanese zeros in the days when F-16 fighter jets didn’t even exist. We can honor our fallen vets by remembering what heros they were to be able to fight for our freedoms in such antiquated equipment.

And we can remember some of the great things about those war machines as well. They were built in the days that everything was made out of steel and built to last. We can put the same care into our own plastic scale models. They won’t be made of steel, but we can make them strong and sturdy and put as much care as the builders of those aircraft, ships and tanks put into building the real thing.

We can remember the pride that Americans and British had in manufacturing these machines of war and we can experience that again by taking the same pride in constructing our own scale models of those things.

We can share the history we know with our grandchildren and we can make it more real to them by showing them our models and showing how the real machines were used during the wars.

Airfix’s focus on war aircraft, ships, cars, motorbikes and tanks helps us get any kind of model we want related to historical wars.

But they don’t just sell model kits. That would be great, but they recognize how passionate we are about building models. Be sure to visit their site at AirFix.com and sign up for their email newsletter. It’s free and lets you know about club happenings and upcoming competitions.

This is one of my favorite parts of this hobby. It isn’t just about building the models. It is about meeting like minded people in the AirFix club and sharing stories and model ideas.

Competition is always in fun, but it is very rewarding to be recognized for your model building skill. AirFix sponsors many competitions, but the only way you will know about them is to join the official club and sign up for the free newsletter. I highly recommend both.

I hope to see you at a competition soon!
